Tom Ramsey

Tom has been a member of The Redeemer since 2003. He comments that "Moving from the church I used to attend to Redeemer was like moving from a small college to a major university. Redeemer has so much to offer. Unlike so many places, though, Redeemer shares all it has openly. I am fortunate to have the time to take advantage of many of Redeemer’s offerings. Last summer’s trip to Malawi changed my life. An Advent Series and Meet the Propers made certain Redeemer was the right place for me. Christmas Baskets got me involved with Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels made my involvement in Redeemer’s Food for Friends a certainty. Foyers, Pastoral Care, Eucharistic Visitor, Acolyte, Chalice Bearer and helping in the office round out Redeemer’s offerings for me. Fortunately I discovered The Shop just before Christmas. Family and friends are a lot happier as a result!"

Martha Wintner

More than thirty years have passed since Rector Tim Pickering bicycled to the Wintner home on the Haverford campus to welcome the family as new members of the Church of Redeemer.Teaching positions at Haverford College first brought husband Claude and Martha to this area in 1969, but she grew up in nearby Swarthmore and attended Trinity Church there through Sunday School, confirmation, and also Diocesan Youth Camp as a teenager. The Wintner’s involvement at The Redeemer initially focused on their children, Ed and Tom, who participated in choir, Sunday School, and were confirmed here. She soon joined the then-very-new Adult Choir, from which she only recently retired, and has also served as a lector for many years, and Claude and she have enjoyed working for “Attic Treasures” at the Christmas Bazaar. Most recently, she has been a member and co-chair (with Kathy Hutchinson) of the Pastoral Care Committee, whose mission continues to engage her full participation.
